UPCOMING: Agathen Merida Sisterhood ~ Monday, Nov. 24th @ 6:00pm

Introducing our new Agathen Merida Sisterhood Women’s Group!

The Agathen Merida (Greek phrase for “Good Portion”) Sisterhood is group of sisters in Christ who meet once a month, taking a pause from their busy lives to embrace stillness, fellowship, and spiritual nourishment through discussions grounded in the Orthodox Faith. The Sisterhood is rooted in the story of Martha and Mary of Bethany in which Martha grumbles to Jesus about her sister, Mary, sitting at His feet and listening to His words while she is left on her own to serve. Jesus responds by telling Martha that she is overwhelmed by troubles and anxieties, but only one thing is necessary, and Mary had chosen that thing, the “good portion,” which would not be taken away from her. While acts of service are integral for the women of our parish, oftentimes we find ourselves too busy to sit in stillness, in the presence of Lord, with fellow believers so we can be spiritually fed, nourished, and encouraged by His words and one another. The Agathen Merida Sisterhood offers a space for women to prioritize their spiritual well-being in a compassionate and uplifting environment.
