2024 Holy Week Youth Participation and Retreat – Friday 3 May
We have a fun and educational program planned for our youth for this year. Since kids learn best by doing, each of these events involves learning and participation. All families are strongly encouraged to be a part of this important opportunity to deepen our appreciation of Holy Week.
Holy Friday – May 3, 2024
9:30- 10:00 am – Kids arrive and assemble in the church
10:00 -10:45 am – Service of the Holy Hours. They help to decorate the Epitaphio and assemble the Paschal candles.
10:45 – 11:30 am – Holy Friday activities and lessons
11:30 – 12:00 pm – Lunch
12:00 – 1:00 pm – Games outside (weather permitting)
1:00 – 2:00 pm – Service Project and Snack
2:00 – 3:00 pm – Un-nailing Service. Kids participate in taking Jesus off the cross
We are asking that parents stay to volunteer in helping with the decorating, crafts and preparation of lunch and helping the kids cleanup and of course stay to watch their kids participate in the Un-nailing service. Also, if you know of anyone who is willing to help us out, the more the merrier!
For lunch, we will serve spaghetti with red sauce, fruit salad and tossed salad. We will have fishies/pretzels/animal crackers for snack and of course water to drink.
The opportunities to receive Holy Communion are Holy Thursday morning, Holy Saturday morning, and (of course) Resurrection. If you have any questions, please let us know.
