In the 2020 census of the status of Eastern Orthodox Churches in America there was found a dramatic change in the Orthodox Church participation, mainly a decline of 14% in regular church attendance and 17% loss in members. While the Orthodox Church has struggled with members leaving the church in favor of Protestant or Non-Denominational churches, now the largest growing segment are people who do not identify with any denomination and prefer to practice a modern-age spirituality that does not obligate one to adhere to the “rules” and “form” of organized worship.
