The 2023-24 Liturgical New Year Begins – Is There a Strategy?
After a very successful Greek Festival, I know that many of you are spending the summer traveling to Greece, England, Europe, or of course, Scotland (or just enjoying a “staycation”) without masks! September begins a new liturgical year and there are some very exciting programs that have been organized by our Youth Director Demos, together with our Religious Education and Greek School teams.
To kick off this year’s religious education program, Karina and Lauren (our Sunday School directors) have organized the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Summer Retreat on the Feast Day of the Assumption, August 15th. This is a great opportunity for our kids (and adults) to celebrate together this most important feast day of the Orthodox Church.
However the church community is more than just Sunday school and Greek School, so in this new Liturgical year, the Parish Council and I want to continue working towards accomplishing the broader Strategic Vision we presented at the Spring 2022 General Assembly; Learn the Faith, Live the Faith, and Share the Faith.
This simple vision statement embodies what we desire not only for us as a community and also serves as an expression of what we want to do as part of the Rochester community in which we all live and work.
