Dear Annunciation Parishioners,
This Sunday, September 10th following the Divine Liturgy, Philoptochos will be having their annual Mezedes, Mimosas & Membership event. This is a very fun event with drinks and delicious food. There are several goals for this event.
- To inform our parish of the important work that our Ladies Philoptochos does, not only for our parish but also for the Rochester community, as well as supporting national and international charities.
- To make sure that everyone knows that baking wonderful and tasty desserts is only a small part of what our Philoptochos does.
- Encourage membership from all ages, that is, our experienced seniors, young women, and teens who can also be part of the Philoptochos mission, which is Friend of the Poor and those in need.
- Encourage an increased rapport and fellowship between the current membership of Philoptochos and new members.
Philoptochos encourages our young women to become members and add their ideas of additional opportunities that Philoptochos can expand the aid they currently offer. For our teens, our senior ladies can offer mentoring in areas of philanthropy, event planning and of course, passing on the wonderful tradition of Greek baking.
As always, we are thankful that our Philoptochos members provide food for our events, and wish to thank those ladies for bringing appetizers or other food items for Sunday. If you have not paid your dues yet for this year, this would be a great opportunity to do so!
Hope to see you all Sunday!
Karen Balta
